October is Energy Awareness Month. This year's theme emphasizes securing America's energy future by working together for clean energy solutions. Order or download this poster to promote Energy Awareness Month in October.

Each year for Energy Awareness Month—October—FEMP provides materials and ideas to help promote energy-saving practices at Federal facilities. Materials include posters and other outreach materials that carry FEMP's energy awareness message.

This year's Energy Awareness Month theme, Working to Secure a Clean Energy Future (PDF 564 KB) encourages everyone to work together to make wise energy choices. Taking clean energy action is not only a long-term goal, it results in a number of immediate benefits: it enhances economic vitality; increases national security; and improves environmental quality. America is taking concerted action to make buildings more efficient, fleets less dependent on foreign fuel, and industries better stewards of our nation's resources. Download Adobe Reader.

Both the private and public sectors need to take rapid action to become energy efficient. Collectively, all of us—the government, the private sector, and the general public—have the means to help control our energy destiny and achieve energy security.

Outreach Materials and Resources

Each year for Energy Awareness Month FEMP provides materials and ideas to help Federal agencies promote energy-saving practices. Materials include posters and other outreach materials that carry FEMP's energy awareness message.

This year's promotional materials remind Federal employees to make buildings more efficient, fleets less dependent on foreign fuel, and industries better stewards of our nation's resources. Outreach materials with energy saving messages include the theme poster and related handout items, as well as posters that highlight projects and Federal employees exemplifying extraordinary actions and leadership in energy management. Federal agencies participating in the You Have the Power Federal awareness campaign receive a supply of these items.

FEMP can only supply limited print quantities, but agencies can create and print their own materials using the high resolution graphics provided in A Power Kit: Energy Awareness Resources on CD ROM. The CD also contains the handbook, Creating an Energy Awareness Program and previous Earth Day and Energy Awareness Month campaign images. Please call the EERE Information Center at 877-337-3463 to request a copy.

Additional limited supplies of the following 2008 Energy Awareness Month materials will be available to order from the EERE Information Center at 1-877-337-3463 after September 17, 2008:

  • Posters (Working to Secure A Clean Energy Future)
  • Light Switch Covers
  • Door Knob Hangers
  • 12-Month Tent Card Calendar
  • CD Rom Power Kit of Energy Awareness Resources

FEMP appreciates Federal and private partners who assist in spreading the word. Your participation in distributing promotional materials and conducting energy awareness campaigns is vital to making agency personnel and others aware of the importance of saving energy

Promoting Energy Awareness Month

FEMP's Animated Energy Awareness Messages promote energy awareness during Energy Awareness Month and all year round. These messages can be sent out as a mass mailing or attached to individual e-mail messages as a simple, cost-free way for agencies to spread the word about energy efficiency. The animated gif files and low-resolution campaign graphics are available for download.

FEMP's frequently asked questions are helpful for getting ideas for energy awareness approaches and activities. In addition, FEMP offers tips on how to save energy at your office, facility and in your home. And the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Savers Consumers Guide offers tips on energy efficiency and renewable energy. Additional information about energy efficiency and energy savings also is available on the EERE Web site, http://www.eere.energy.gov/.
