IRLab Researchers preparing an experiment on window thermal performance; Thermograph of Dual Glazing vs. Single Pane

The Infrared Thermography Laboratory

In the Infrared Thermography Laboratory (IRLab) the thermal performance of windows and other insulated systems are tested. During experiments, windows are placed in chambers that simulate several climate conditions. The resulting thermal images and data help researchers understand details of thermal performance and validate computer simulations of heat and fluid flows. Other experiments in the IRLab produce qualitative thermal images, or thermograms, which provide a visual interpretation of how heat flows through an experimental specimen.
