Records of the Office of the Secretary of War (Record Group 107)
The records of the Office of the Secretary of War include records about the Civil War, World Wars I and II, claims against the War Department, and expositions.
Search Instructions
To read the descriptions of records from RG 107 in ARC; click the yellow Search button in the upper left corner of this page.
- Change the search type to Advanced Search.
- Limit the search results to 1000.
- Choose "Series" from the Levels of Description of Archival Materials list.
- Scroll down to the Record Group Numbers Filter and click the Lookup button.
- Type 107 in the keyword box and click the Go button.
- Click the All button.
- This will return you to the main search page.
- Click the Go button to search for all descriptions. The search will bring back 378 series descriptions associated with the record group.
- Click the Display All Hits button to see all of the descriptions.
To narrow the search you can enter search terms in the keyword box. For example, entering "Jamestown Tercentennial Exposition" will bring back six series descriptions in RG 107 and entering "Catherinus P. Buckingham" will bring back descriptions of seven series created by or under the direction of Buckingham.
