Channel/Reef Marking
- The Channel Marking Master Plan is a collaborative effort between: Monroe County, the United States Coast Guard, the State of Florida (FWCC & DEP), and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.
- 600 (+/-) aids to navigation in the Florida Keys are maintained and referenced in a GIS database.
- USCG improved channel marking through Moser Channel based on grounding "hot spot" data provided by Sanctuary staff.
- Boast access survey completed and entered into a marine facilities GIS database.
- Channel Marking Master Plan.
- Entrance depths surveyed; a;; channel markers and navigation aides inventoried.
- Ongoing standardization, relocation, addition, and when necessary, removal of existing markers.
- Monroe County installed markers through S. Sugarloaf Sound.
- Shoal makers at Newfound Harbor installed.
- Lignumvitae Key State Park area assessed via aerial and ground surveys for trend analysis.
- Publication of Prop Scar Survey produced by FMRI.
