Tempe Public Library is one of only five libraries in the United States involved in

the Cornerstones of Science national initiative.

To connect children and adults to science and technology through superb books, programs, and opportunities for public involvement in current scientific issues.

Saturday Science:  hands-on, book based program for 9 to 12 year olds

Read, Write & Win:  Annual science book review writing contest for youth in grades 3 through 12

Cornerstones of

A goal of this program is to identify superbly written, accurate, and stimulating science books and other media for children and adults.  Visit our kiosk in the Youth Library for a selection of books which have been selected as Cornerstones of Science books or nominated for this honor.  A list of the Cornerstones of Science books as well as the nominated books is available on the national website.
