  • Arizona College of Public Health’s Information Links page: Selected Links from the University of Arizona Health Science Center

  • www.healthfinder.gov:  Selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, support groups, as well as government agencies that produce reliable information for the public.

  • wwww.healthfinder.gov/moretools/libraries.htm:  Links to public libraries, and medical libraries available on the internet.

  • www.medlineplus.gov:  MEDLINEplus provides access to extensive information about specific diseases and conditions and has links to consumer health information from the National Institutes of Health, clearinghouses, dictionaries, lists of hospitals, physicians and clinical trials.

  • The Colorado Virtual Library presents "Health & Medicine for Consumers":  Over 1,000 links divided in these categories: Healthy Lifestyles, Diseases and Conditions, Mental Health, Support Groups, Medicines, Drugs, and Lab Tests, Alternative Therapies, Patients' Rights, Hospitals and Clinics, Health Plans and Providers, and General Consumer Health Web Resources.

  • American Medical Association:  The AMA Health Insight web site is dedicated to improving the health of Americans. To fulfill this mission, the AMA provides: scientifically accurate information and links to proven health care resources.

  • www.familydoctor.org:  The American Academy of Family Physicians sponsors this site. It offers patient education documents for common medical concerns and conditions.

  • www.MayoClinic.com:  Mayo Health Oasis offers a wealth of easy-to-understand information on health and medical topics.

  • Med Help International:  Patients can ask questions of doctors-- This "ask the doctor" site meets high standards

  • www.NetWellness.org:  NetWellness is a Web-based consumer health information service developed by the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with many partners.

  • Karolinska Institutet University Library:  This site provides informational resources, in particular, about diseases and disorders, but also with a few other health/medical related topics. This site was one of the first medical lists of sites.

  • Hardin MD:  This site points to the most complete and frequently cited lists for health subjects. This link lists the best sites that list sites containing disease-specific information.

  • McMaster University Health Sciences Library:  Health Care Information Resources makes information about health and disease accessible in the belief that the informed consumer is a more satisfied consumer of healthcare.

  • Oregon State University: Nutrition Education:  Oregon State University Extension Family and Community Development website is for educators interested in information, resources, tips and skill-building so that they can more effectively work with low income, culturally diverse audiences and develop nutrition education programs. This site offers great information about How to develop low literacy materials.
