Drift Card Study Results: Safe Seas 2006
In the "Safe Seas 2006" emergency response exercise, hundreds of biodegradable drift cards simulated spilled pollutants at the site of the hypothetical spills.

We have had a great response from California residents and visitors who have reported drift cards that they've found on the beaches of this coastline. Thanks to all who have reported cards to us! (Keep the reports coming!) We appreciate your time and effort to help our study.
Where have Drift Cards been found?
The map below shows regions of central California where Safe Seas drift cards have been found.
- Colored squares represent locations where drift cards were released (Release Locations). For example, an orange square represents a location where orange drift cards were released.
- Black dots represent Find Locations, where one or more drift cards were found and reported to us. Shown next to each Find Location is the number of cards that were found at that location.
Click any dot shown on the map to learn more about the cards found there. A zoomed version of that coastal region will be displayed, with reported information shown below the map.

Where were the Drift Cards released?
Yellow and orange cards were released on the water to simulate pollutants released from the vessels involved in the scenario.
