Award-winning author and journalist Linda R. Monk discussed her new book, The Words We Live By: Your Annotated Guide to the Constitution (Hyperion, 2003), at the Library of Congress.

The program was part of the Center for the Book's author series, Books & Beyond, which showcases new books of special relevance to the Library of Congress. Co-sponsored with the Law Library, the event was open to the public.

In The Words We Live By, Monk takes readers through the U.S. Constitution line by line, providing analysis, surprising facts, little known information, alternate interpretations and historical anecdotes. The result, according to Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, is "a wonderfully accessible yet deeply insightful guide to our Constitution, which should be read and enjoyed by a wide audience of old and young alike."
