West Nile Virus
West Nile virus can infect humans, birds, mosquitoes, horses and other animals. Birds become infected with West Nile virus and carry the virus in nature. Mosquitoes become infected after feeding on infected birds. People bitten by a mosquito carrying West Nile virus may have no symptoms at all or they may become ill with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. |

Pandemic Flu
Pandemic flu is a global outbreak of disease from a new Influenza A virus that is unlike past influenza viruses. Because people have not been infected with a similar virus in the past, most or all people will not have any natural immunity (protection) to a new pandemic virus. |
