Investor Information
Before participating in the futures markets, investors should learn as much as they can about how the markets work and the firms and individuals they are doing business with. NFA publishes several investor publications that explain the purpose of the industry and the role we play in ensuring market integrity.

It is essential for an investor to perform due diligence before making any investment decision. One element of due diligence is conducting a background check on the firm and/or individual you intend to do business with.

To check on a futures broker or firm, visit the Background Affiliation Status Information Center (BASIC). BASIC contains the registration status and disciplinary history of every firm and individual registered to conduct futures trading business with the investing public.

You can also call our Information Center at (800) 621-3570. Our Information Center Representatives are available to respond to your inquiries from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.
