New Faces at RACE
Dan Urban started on January 22 in the Shellfish Assessment Program. Dan comes to us after a successful career with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Dan has conducted research and published in areas of finfish and shellfish habitat, distribution, tagging and biology. Dan has a large amount of experience with field studies and trawl surveys. He is already collaborating with a number of AFSC scientists and will be continuing his work in these areas while overseeing the KL interests in the Western Gulf of Alaska small mesh survey operated jointly with ADF&G.
Christina Conrath started on February 4 in the Groundfish Assessment Program. Christina comes to us from a Post Doctoral position with the University of Florida after finishing her PhD at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. Christina has been working mostly with the biology and distribution of apex predators at the Florida Program for Shark Research and has experience running groundfish trawl and longline surveys. She will be working on groundfish habitat, biology, and distribution studies at the Kodiak Lab.
