Office of Environmental Evaluation (OEE)

  • Manages non-competitive and competitive lease proposals for energy and marine mineral resources on the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).
  • Reviews and approves OCS lease ownership and adjudicates other legal documents related to OCS leases.
  • Ensures companies have adequate financial strength or bonding to carry out their lease obligations.   
  • Plans and manages the Regional Environmental Studies Program.
  • Coordinates the Regional Coastal Impact Assistance Program.
  • Works with stakeholders to identify and address issues and information needs related to program activities.

  • Through the Environmental Analysis Section, ensures Regional activities comply with environmental laws and implementing regulations.

  • Analyzes the environmental effects of OCS oil and gas, alternative energy, alternate use of offshore facilities, and marine mineral activities; prepares associated environmental documents.
  • Coordinates Endangered and Threatened Species Consultations, State Historic Preservation Office Consultations, and Essential Fish Habitat Consultations.
  • Monitors industry compliance with environmental conditions of permit/plan approval.
  • Coordinates environmental program activities with stakeholders.
