SOHO Mission to Sun
SOHO:
The international Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) has been keeping a steady watch on the Sun since April 1996.

Keeping the Sun under almost constant observation, the SOHO team has been able to warn Earth about approaching coronal mass ejections that could potentially disrupt communications. The team - and everyday people who just watch the website - have also discovered dozens of comets, many of which are destroyed by the Sun's powerful gravity and energy.
