SAMHSA recently released two Notices
of Funding Availability (NOFAs).

$7.1 Million Available for State Adolescent
Substance Abuse Treatment Coordination:
To help states build capacity to provide effective,
accessible, and affordable substance abuse
treatment for adolescents. These grants will
fund a new staff position in state government
with sole responsibility to ensure effective
adolescent substance abuse treatment. In addition,
funding will support a process to access, facilitate,
and coordinate planning for adolescent substance
abuse treatment statewide. Extended

$16 Million for Targeted Capacity
Expansion Grants: To improve a community's
ability to provide a comprehensive response
to a well-documented substance abuse treatment
capacity problem or to improve the quality
and intensity of services in a local area.
Funding will be available across three target
areas, including treatment for American Indians
and Alaska Natives or Asian Americans/Pacific
Islanders, treatment related to methamphetamine
and other emerging drug use among rural populations,
and college campus screening to combat underage
drinking. Extended Application Due
