ADAPT Clubhouse Program
The Clubhouse’s are a place for people with Brain Injuries in Fairfax, Arlington, Loudoun, Prince William Counties, The Cities of Fairfax and Alexandria to come together in a supportive work-ordered day environment. The primary purpose of the program is to assist individuals with brain injuries to lead productive lives. This is achieved through community integration, vocational exploration, employment participation, and volunteerism.

The benefits of the clubhouse model are numerous. First, members come together in a positive and supportive environment fostering productivity. Second, the members are not seen as patients or clients. They are on an even field with peers and staff; all working together for one common goal. The focus is person centered and based on strengths, thus fostering increased self-esteem, vocational skills, and confidence.

Eligibility:

Members must be able to manage self-care:
• Use bathroom independently *
• Eat and drink without assistance *
• Have environmental awareness of events, which may impact their personal health safety (i.e. evacuating the building independently during an emergency.)
* Members may bring an aide at their own expense to provide personal care if approved by the Intake Board.

Members must be able to take medications with minimal cues:
• While in attendance members must be able to administer all physician prescribed medications and complete any other prescribed treatment independently or with minimal cues.

Members must not pose a threat to the health and safety of the clubhouse:
Clubhouse membership may be denied if he/she:
• Has a history of violence and/or sexual misconduct.
• Has felony charges pending or past felony charges on his or her record. *
• Actively uses illegal substances and/or alcohol.
• Is currently on parole.
*Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis by the Intake Board and a screening assessment is used to determine if the above criteria is met.
