Veterans Day

Veterans Day—November is the month we celebrate our nation's veterans.  Be sure to visit our Veterans Day page, which features great information on all of the coins and medals relating to veterans.  This page is linked to several Veterans Day teaching resources, including a WebQuest, two lesson plans, and a brand new Teacher Feature!

November Coin of the Month—Nero the Mint Police Dog can't wait to tell you all about the Navajo Code Talker Medal!  Join him as he tells the story of the brave Navajo soldiers who created a top secret code for the United States during World War II.

Making Cents—The latest edition of the H.I.P. Pocket Change newsletter has finally hit the Web.  Read it through to learn all about the fantastic features we've added to the site, including the new and improved Time Machine, the Dorothy Height medal, and the premiere of the Wisonsin quarter.  Finally, test yourself to see how much you learned with the Making Cents Fall 2004 Crossword Puzzle!

Travel Guide Quiz

Travel Guide Quiz—Think you know everything there is to know about the 50 State Quarters® Program?  Test your design knowledge to see whether you're examining your change closely enough.  Be sure to try your hand at the bonus questions regarding the new Wisconsin quarter obverse.  Invite your students to try this quiz on its own, or as part of the Seeing the States WebQuest!

Fun Facts—A new Fun Fact is available each month, but you don't have to settle for one fun fact at a time!  Just click on a fact at the top of any H.I.P. Pocket Change page and learn some little known stories of the United States Mint and American coinage.

Time Machine

Time Machine—Peter the Mint Eagle has been tinkering again.  He has learned a lot since the Time Machine was first built and the pals have cool new ideas about how to have fun in the past.  So Peter is improving his Time Machine, and the first exciting results are in!

So far, the first three time trips have been expanded with more movement and activities to make them even more fun.  Peter's Clothesmatic 3000 has a whole new look, too!  Step into the Time Machine; Peter and his friends can hardly wait to share the new adventures with you!
