OSHA schedules meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health

WASHINGTON -- The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has scheduled a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Construction Safety and Health (ACCSH) for May 15-16, 2008, in Washington, D.C. The ACCSH workgroups will meet on May 13-14, 2008. The ACCSH and workgroup meetings will be held in Rooms N-3437A-D at the U.S. Department of Labor, Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. 20210.

The ACCSH meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, May 16. Following is a schedule of times for all ACCSH workgroups:
  • Diversity - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., May 13
  • Trenching - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., May 13
  • Multilingual - 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 13
  • Rollover Protective Systems (ROPS) - 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 13
  • Focused Inspection Initiative - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., May 14
  • Residential Fall Protection - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., May 14
  • Silica - 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., May 14
  • OSHA Training Institute (OTI) - 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., May 14
The committee advises the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health in the formulation of standards affecting the construction industry and on policy matters arising in the administration of the safety and health provisions of the Contract Work Hours and Safety Standards Act, and the OSH Act of 1970.

Written comments and requests to make oral presentations may be submitted no later than May 1 to Veneta Chatmon, OSHA Office of Communications, Room N-3647, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20210; telephone 202-693-1999. Presentation requests should specify the amount of time desired, the capacity in which the person will appear, and a brief outline of the presentation. Requests to speak will be granted by the Committee Chairperson as time permits.
