Sample Data - Social, Economic and Housing Characteristics are from Summary File 3

The social, economic and housing characteristics tables are derived from Summary File 3 which is based on answers from a sample of approximately 19 million housing units (about 1 in 6 households) that received the Census 2000 Long-Form Questionnaire (PDF - 627 KB). American Indian and Alaska Native areas were sampled at a higher rate, approximately 1 in 2. Like SF 1:

  • Data are available for the 9 major race groups and Hispanic or Latino Origin.
  • No population thresholds are applied to these data.
  • Data for Tribal Reservation Areas and more are available.
