NYS Urban Cultural Park

UCP Visitor Center

Across Fall Street from the Park's Women's Education and Cultural Center is the Visitor Center for the NYS Urban Cultural Park. The Urban Cultural Parks celebrate the richness of New York State, and include attractions such as the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse. The Seneca Falls Visitors Center captures the unique history of this part of the Empire State.

Stanton Sculpture

Of course, the history of Seneca Falls as the birthplace of the Women's Rights Movement is noted here, as throughout the city. The NYS Visitor Center houses exhibits related to the women's rights movement, including this full size sculpture of Elizabeth Cady Stanton seated at a desk.

Other displays feature posters, maps, and early documents illustrating Seneca Falls history.

Fire Pump

The exhibits also take special note of the industrial history of Seneca Fallse, which was once home to several pump manufacturers and is considered the birthplace of modern firefighting equipment. Seneca Falls remains the home of Gould's Pumps, a major area employer and worldwide supplier of pumps. Pictured here is one of several displays illustrating this aspect of Seneca Falls history.

Appropriate to the political importance of Senca Falls, the building housing the Urban Cultural Park Visitor Center also houses the local offices of state and federal elected officials.
