Don't clean your coins in the washing machine, silly!

The only coins you want to run through the washer are those you plan to spend right away.  (Even then, there's a good chance your parents don't want you to launder those coins!)  Detergents and the spin cycle can quickly scuff up a coin—especially if it falls out of your jeans' pocket.
