Summary:

This comprehensive course for dentists will expand on the principles and skills of clinic and personnel management presented in Concepts I. Additional areas such as time management, motivating staff, mentoring/new manager development and other requested subjects will be presented.

*The curriculum is flexible enough to address the individual needs of participants. Participants can expect pre-course communications and assignments.

NOTE: A forum for post-course follow-up will be developed to support managers with the implementation of skills and actions developed in the course.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. Understand and apply the advanced concepts presented in order to create a number of documents to include personnel actions (PIP, written counseling, etc.) business case analysis for additional revenue as well as a program budget.
2. Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of their clinic(s) and develop a work plan to improve clinic function that will be implemented with the assistance and support of the instructors and co-participants.
3. Understand communication, management and relationship issues related to the participant’s situation in order to better plan self-development and career development.

Prerequisites:

This course is for Dentists only. Completion of Concepts of Service Unit Management I or any of the "Concepts" courses presented by IHS since 1995 is required except as approved by instructors.
