Marshall and the D-Day Invasion of Europe
George Marshall dreamed of being a war hero, but throughout his career he was usually assigned to the desk. Why? Marshall was a problem-solver, so his superiors wanted him to plan the battles, not fight them. Marshall's final chance for glory came at a key moment during World War II. At that time, Marshall was overseeing the war effort from his desk in Washington, D.C.
