MAJOR DUTIES:
If selected for this position, you will manage and direct the
activities of the Division. You will provide leadership and
direction in establishing vision, strategic plans, goals and
objectives. You will plan, develop and implement vital, productive,
forefront research programs conducted at DOE laboratories,
universities, and other public and private institutions. You will
provide advice and assistance to the Associate Director in the
formulation of the budget, assuring adequate financing for the
activities. You will set priorities for activities and
apportion available funding to projects. You will review and
make final approval on staff recommendations concerning research
agreements and individual proposals for research projects. You will
implement rigorous merit evaluations using independent peer reviews
for all new and ongoing activities. You will advise the Associate
Director in the formulation and management of new programs and
policies. You will assist the Associate Director in responding to
policy questions and resolving management problems and keeping SC
informed of the progress and prospects of the Division's and
Office's activities. You will maintain collegial relationships with
other programs within Science and DOE laboratories, academia and
other research activities with those of other Federal agencies
involved in support of high energy physics research. You will
supervise the staff in the Division.
