"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: A Novel" by Stieg Larsson (Alfred A. Knopf)
By Marjorie Miller
The first in a crime novel trilogy, "Tattoo" takes readers to rural Sweden to search for the perp in a 40-year-old case of a young girl's disappearance. The author finished the trilogy before his death in 2004 -- lucky for us, our reviewer says.

The novelist collaborates on the debut release by I'm Not Jim.
Even a master novelist's missteps are worth reading.
