The GLOBE Program

GLOBE is a worldwide network of K-12 students who conduct grade-level appropriate research on the environment. Under the guidance of trained teachers, students make a core set of environmental observations and report and share their data with other students via the Internet. Scientists use GLOBE data in their research and provide feedback to students. Visualizations based on GLOBE student data can be created on the program's Web site. GLOBE observations and measurements include many variables relating to: atmosphere/climate, hydrology, land cover/phenology, and soils. The idea that Earth is a system of interconnected parts is at the root of the program. GLOBE is an interagency program funded by NASA and the National Science Foundation, supported by the U.S. Department of State, and implemented through a cooperative agreement between NASA, the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins
