OIG is committed to ensuring the integrity of NRC programs and operations. Developing an effective planning strategy is a critical aspect of accomplishing this commitment. Such planning assures that OIG audit and investigative resources are used effectively.

  • Strategic Plan. The NRC’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) strategic plan represents the culmination of an intensive effort in which all OIG staff draw on their collective experience and expertise to reexamine the OIG’s purpose and future direction. The strategic goals presented in this plan comprise the essential elements necessary to effectively realize the OIG’s principal mission. It also reflects the vision statement adopted by the OIG: "We are agents of positive change striving for continuous improvement in our agency’s management and program operations and in our own office."
  • OIG Annual Plan. OIG's annual plan is the operational document that sets forth its formal strategy for identifying priority issues. It reflects the interest and concerns of Congress, the NRC's Chairman, Commissioners and managers, the General Accounting Office, the nuclear industry, and public interest groups and provides the necessary linkage to the agency's strategic goals and objectives. The Annual Plan also serves as a basis for developing performance goals and measures envisioned by the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA).
  • Performance Report. The OIG Performance Report provides Congress and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) with a detailed analysis of the extent to which OIG accomplished its intended annual goals and objectives.
