Advanced Light Source
The Advanced Light Sources at the Berkeley Lab produces the world's brightest "soft" X-ray and ultraviolet light, serving scientists in many fields to look at the surface of metals or deep inside living cells. 


History of Los Alamos National Laboratory

Univac computer
From the earliest days, Livermore's scientists and engineers recognized the premier importance of computing power in a research and development facility. The first commercial computer produced in quantity, the Univac I was the Livermore lab's first electronic brain (1953).
