Welcome to the UCOP University Budget Office

The University of California is a large, complex, public university system with ten campuses under a single governing board. The primary mission of the systemwide Budget Office is to:

  • to support the President in planning/budget development, budget negotiation, and resource management including:
      • development of the University's annual budget request to the State of California consistent with the policies and priorities of the Board of Regents;
      • consultation with faculty, staff, students and other constituencies on planning issues, resource needs, and priorities for the Regents budget,
      • representation of the University of California in the state capitol and advocacy for the Regents’Budget request,
      • advising the President and implementation of decisions related to the allocation of resources to the campuses, the monitoring of campus expenditures of all funds, and the reporting of University information.
  • analyze alternatives and develop recommendations that help the Board of Regents fulfill its responsibilities in holding the public trust,
  • assist the Chancellors and other campus officers in addressing planning and budget issues.
