U.S. affiliate

A U.S. affiliate is a U.S. business enterprise in which a single foreign investor owns at least 10 percent of the voting securities or the equivalent.

Majority-Owned U.S. affiliate

A majority-owned U.S. affiliate is a U.S. affiliate that is owned more than 50 percent by a foreign direct investor.

Note: The financial and operating data available from these interactive tables cover only nonbank affiliates. Nonbank affiliates exclude affiliates engaged in deposit banking and closely related functions, including commercial banks, savings institutions, credit unions, and bank and financial holding companies.
