Services
The Youth and Family Services Program is composed of 15 community based agencies which provide services within the boundaries of the 19 school districts of King County. As a funding partner of these agencies the King County Youth and Family Services Program fulfills its mission to develop and support programs targeted at youth with identified social risk factors. Local agencies provide a unique blend of programs and services which comprise the backbone of support to children, youth and families. These services include: outreach, youth and family counseling, case management, gang intervention, drug prevention and parenting classes, drug and alcohol treatment and support groups, employment and education programs, tutoring, youth development, family support and many others. arrowMore about the agencies and services.

Youth Shelters
The Youth and Family Services Program supports a system of five youth shelters operating throughout King County that offer youth a safe alternative to the streets while providing the supports necessary to link youth to more stable living situations. arrowMore about youth shelters.

Criminal Justice
The Youth and Family Services Program sustains a number of agencies that provide services to youth and their families involved in or are at high risk for involvement in the juvenile justice system. The primary goal is to prevent youth from entering or re-entering the justice system. Another significant goal is to reduce disproportionality of youth of color in the juvenile justice system. arrow More about Criminal Justice.

Elements of Successful Programs
"Elements of Successful Programs" decribes factors that contribute to a program's success. It is used by provider agencies for program development and improvement. The Guidebook (720 kb .pdf) describes characteristics of programs shown to reduce recidivism, delinquency, and/or violent behavior of youth who are involved in, or at imminent risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. The accompanying "Program Assessment Improvement Plan (300 kb .pdf) helps agencies determine and document the elements of success, along with areas of strength and areas needing improvement.
