Something new is always happening at the Botanic Garden! Each season brings its own rhythms to the garden. Take time to smell the roses, ride a buckboard wagon, follow a butterfly, or simply enjoy a shady bench with a lovely green view...

 

PNM Butterfly Pavilion (Friday, June 13-Tuesday, September 30)   

The PNM Butterfly Pavilion is open through September 30! This popular exhibit allows visitors to walk through an indoor butterfly garden where hundreds of butterflies representing about forty species flutter around them, visiting their nectar plants. Entrance is included with admission.

Schedule:

9:00am - 5:00pm Mondays - Fridays

9:00 to 6:00 Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day weekend.

Japanese Garden Tours

Lake at Japanese GardenTours of the Japanese Garden are offered, weather permitting, on Wednesdays at 11:00am and 12:00pm. Tours are included with general admission to the garden. Reservations are recommended as group size is limited to 15 -20 people. Call 848-7180 to reserve a space.

Buckboard Rides at the Heritage Farm  

Wagon rideLet Dick and Dan, the massive Percheron draft horses, take you on an old-fashioned buckboard wagon around the Heritage Farm Fields. Rides included with admission.

Schedule: As of May 29, wagon rides are temporarily suspended. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. We will update the website as the wagon rides become operational again.

Old-time Music at the Heritage Farm

What do you get when you combine a hammered dulcimer, banjo, mandolin, guitar, cello, voices in harmony, and a fun-loving group of musicians? The Muddy River String Band! Come down to the Heritage Farm to enjoy their energetic and eclectic mix of old-time, bluegrass, country, Celtic, gospel, and original music.

Schedule: Playing 12noon-2pm on Saturdays, February 9, June 7, July 12, August 9, and October 4

Quilters and Woodcarvers at the Heritage Farm   

New Mexico quilters working on a quiltVisit with artisans of two traditional crafts in the Heritage Farm House. The New Mexico Quilters will be working on their Botanic Garden quilt and other projects, and are available to answer questions and do demonstrations. The Church House Whittlers usually spend their regular Wednesday on the front porch, carving wood and telling stories of a simpler time.

Schedule: Second Wednesday of every month, 10 am - 2 pm.

Garden Advice

Gardening experts, including the Albuquerque Area Extension master Gardeners, share tips, advice and general information about growing plants in Albuquerque t the "Ask a Gardener" table in the central plaza. For more information, please call (505) 848-7180.

Schedule: Saturdays, June-August, 10 am - 2 pm.
