Procedures for Requesting a CRGR Review

The Committee To Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) normally meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The CRGR Chairman will generally issue a meeting notice and agenda at least 2 weeks before each meeting (with the exception of special meeting held to review urgent items). These notices will indicate the meeting time and location, as well as the topics to be presented for CRGR review and endorsement. The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is responsible for notifying the CRGR when it is apparent that they will require rescheduling.

For quarterly agenda planning, the program offices will provide to the CRGR Chairman a list of items expected to be submitted for the CRGR review and endorsement. In addition, program office staff may submit review requests to the CRGR Chairman at least 2 weeks before the requested review date. Such requests should include 10 copies of all related documents, in both electronic and hard-copy formats. (For additional guidance, see the Content Requirements for Packages Submitted for CRGR Review.) The CRGR will then schedule the requested review within 1 week after receiving the formal request.

The cognizant staff will be responsible for providing relevant background material to the Committee and the CRGR staff, and for distributing presentation materials at the meeting. The review materials and relevant background information for each topic to be considered by the Committee will be logged in by the CRGR administrative assistant and promptly distributed to the members. The members must receive these materials at least 1 week before the scheduled meeting. To support the CRGR's record retention requirements, all documents submitted to the CRGR should be declared as official agency records in the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The presenting office is responsible for notifying the CRGR once the reviewed topic has been made publicly available so that the CRGR meeting minutes may also be made available to the public.
