The NSA/CSS National Cryptologic School (NCS) is one of six Cryptologic Training Schools within the United States Cryptologic System (USCS). It consists of three teaching departments responsible for designing, developing, and delivering curriculum in Cryptology, Information Assurance, Language, and Leadership. The NCS also partners with private and professional learning vendors and institutions around the world to meet the diverse learning needs of the Agency’s workforce and missions. The NCS is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education.

NCS courses are provided to the civilian and military population of NSA/CSS, as well as our partners throughout the Intelligence Community, the military services, and the USCS.

Learning solutions are delivered via advanced technology and computer-based methods, as well as in the traditional classroom setting. Modeling, simulation, computer-based training, instructional television, distance learning, and blended learning solutions are some of the innovative ways in which learning opportunities are provided to the NSA/CSS workforce. Employees have access to literally thousands of web-based training courses developed by NSA/CSS, as well as those offered by a variety of vendors and agencies throughout the Intelligence Community, via the Agency’s Joint Intelligence Virtual University campus. This portal affords employees the ability to pursue self-paced development opportunities while juggling priorities at home and at work.

No matter the subject or delivery method, developing and delivering the highest quality, relevant, and timely training for NSA/CSS missions requires continual planning and evaluation. Rapidly evolving mission requirements are constantly analyzed to ensure courses stay on the cutting edge of the Agency’s training needs. A variety of sophisticated evaluation techniques are used to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of NSA/CSS learning opportunities. This ensures the best return on investment for the successful accomplishment of the Agency’s missions, and for its most valuable resource… its People.
