The Advanced Energy Technologies Department conducts basic physical science research in support of energy technologies. Its research interests range across the fields of
- electrochemistry,
- combustion chemistry,
- femtosecond laser technologies for chemical analysis,
- advanced materials for clean energy generation and storage,
- advanced sensors for energy-efficient applications,
- nanotechnology and nanomaterials, and
- technologies to facilitate Berkeley Lab's Helios (photons to fuels) research.
