The Advanced Energy Technologies Department conducts basic physical science research in support of energy technologies. Its research interests range across the fields of

  • electrochemistry,
  • combustion chemistry,
  • femtosecond laser technologies for chemical analysis,
  • advanced materials for clean energy generation and storage,
  • advanced sensors for energy-efficient applications,
  • nanotechnology and nanomaterials, and
  • technologies to facilitate Berkeley Lab's Helios (photons to fuels) research.
