Step one: Assessing the danger

Get a call from the police reporting an illegal drug lab.

Record information from law enforcement:
- Drug lab address
- Location of chemicals and equipment
- Presence of children
- Method of manufacturing

3. |
Conduct site inspection.
- Address immediate Public Health threats
- Identify signs of lab activity
- Identify any potentially contaminated water and soil
|
4. |
Post the site with public warnings pending additional evaluation.

Assess site data from all sources:
- Law enforcement
- Site visit
- Ecology, Fire

Determine if property is fit or unfit for occupancy:
- UNFIT FOR OCCUPANCY:

The Health Department lacks sufficient evidence or information to conclude that the property is unfit for occupancy.
Next steps:
- Call the property owner.
- Send follow up letter to the property owner and other interested parties with summary of findings. Additional testing and clean-up may be recommended.
