Planning begins for future funding of HIV/AIDS care services
Tuesday, March 11, 2008

KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - Nearly $5.5 million will be available for HIV/AIDS care services in King County in 2009 and 2010. Starting next week, the Seattle HIV/AIDS Planning Council will begin the process of deciding what types of services will be funded with the Ryan White Treatment Modernization Act, Part A funds.

A committee of the Planning Council comprised of consumers and service providers will use data from a variety of sources, including an assessment of need which surveyed over 500 consumer and 100 providers, to determine funding levels for services. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings and join in the discussions.

Meetings will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on seven Mondays. Dates and locations are:

After the approval of the funding plan by the full Planning Council, interested parties will have 30 days to provide comments.

The Seattle HIV/AIDS Planning Council is the local decision-making body that determines how federal funds will be awarded for HIV/AIDS care service delivery in King County. For more information on the Seattle HIV/AIDS Planning Council, visit: www.metrokc.gov/health/apu/pc.
