Biosketch:
Susan C. Streufert, Ph.D., Director of the NICHD Office of Extramural Policy (OEP), joined the NICHD in 1986 and began her NIH career as a Scientific Review Administrator. She served as Deputy Director and, then, Director of the NICHD Division of Scientific Review. In 2000, she was appointed Director of the newly established Office of Extramural Policy, with a leadership role in the formulation, interpretation, coordination, and implementation of policies and scientific management of NICHD extramural programs. Dr. Streufert received a doctorate in Experimental Social Psychology from Purdue University. Prior to coming to the NIH, she was on the faculty at the University of Bielefeld, Germany, and Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine, conducting research in the field of behavioral medicine with a focus on complex decision making and cardiovascular outcome.
