Biosketch:
Eugene G. Hayunga, Ph.D., Acting Director of the Office of Extramural Policy, is responsible for activities related to the development, implementation and dissemination of policies and procedures regarding the Institute’s extramural programs, grants management, and peer review operations. Dr. Hayunga has held a number of senior leadership positions in review, program, and policy at the NIH. Prior to joining the NICHD, he was the Chief of the Extramural Project Review Branch in the Office of Scientific Affairs, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), where he was responsible for facilitating the scientific peer review of grant applications and contract proposals, and promoted quality assurance for review-related activities. Dr. Hayunga received his B.S. degree from Fordham University in New York and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees both from State University of New York at Albany.
