Red Cross Club gets award!

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Welcome our new Red Cross Clubs: Lee Middle School in Woodland and Holmes Junior High in Davis.
In the center is Dina Finato, instructor, who is working at Project Safe at Lee Middle School in Woodland.
She has worked with the Lee Red Cross Club to teach choking rescue techniques to Lee students during this safety day event.

Everybody is talking about swine flu...
What is it?
Swine Flu (H1N1): Swine Influenza is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that cause regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have been reported to spread from person-to-person.
Currently, the American Red Cross is monitoring the developing situation and is in close contact with federal and state officials, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Homeland Security. For several years, scientists have been informing organizations in the U.S. and abroad about the significant possibility of an influenza (flu) pandemic occurring. At this time the best action the public can take now is prepare and prevent further spread of the virus. Read more.
