Overlook_Fire.jpg

The Elkhart County American Red Cross was called upon Thursday evening to provide assistance to the displaced residents of Overlook Apartments after a huge fire broke out in one of their units.  The fire damaged 24 apartments and at first assessment, we were making arrangements to open a shelter.  After speaking with the residents, about half of them already had other arrangements and a place to stay.  So far, we have provided assistance to 8 families of food, clothing, prescription medication, and 2 nights hotel stay.  There are an additional 4 families scheduled to receive assistance yet today.  FOX 28 has the detailed story.

We are not a governmental agency and our only source of funding comes from the local community.  All donations stay local to help your neighbors, friends, and family members in time of need.  If you would like to make a donation to help Elkhart County vicitims of disaster, please click
here.
