CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2008

Open Space is host to endless opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. Hiking and biking aren’t even the half of it! Identifying, photographing and journaling wildlife and plants; exploring historical and ancient ruins; finding a unique view using a map and compass or GPS; and participating in activities that contribute to the preservation of this invaluable and shared resource.

All programs appropriate for the whole family. Call 452-5200 for more ways you can participate in Open Space events.

Beginning Nature Journaling

Open Space Visitor Center

6500 Coors Blvd, located east of Coors Blvd. at the end of Bosque Meadows Rd. which is between Montano Blvd. and Paseo del Norte

Celebrated local artist, Margy O'brien, will help take your nature journaling to a new level.

Instruction will take place outdoors (weather permitting), so dress appropriately. You may also bring a blanket or portable chair for your comfort.

Instruction fee is $15.00 

 

Call 897-8831 to register.  Space is limited to 20 people 10 years old and above.

 

Students should bring a blank, unlined book of choice, an existing journal, pencils, and any art supplies you like to use.

October 18th, 8:30am - 1:00pm 14th Annual Dia del Rio Celebration

Rio Bravo Riverside Picnic Area:

Take Rio Bravo Blvd. west from Broadway. Before the bridge turn right onto Poco Loco Rd. and follow it directly west into the parking area

Enjoy educational tables from organizations working to protect the Rio Grande and bosque, and participate in a variety of conservation activities including trail working, revegetation, graffiti removal, trash removal, and more!

There will be activities for all ages!

Piedra Lisa Open Space Area, east of Tramway on Camino de la Sierra, just south of the east end of Candelaria

 

 

The Open Space Division the Nicodemus Wilderness Project Leaving www.cabq.gov, click for disclaimer participate in Make a Difference Day by organizing a variety of conservation activities.

 

Projects include trail maintenance, trail building, trash cleanup, graffiti removal, etc.
