Severe weather became widespread on February 24, 2001. Several supercells (i.e. storms with rotating updrafts) developed ahead of a line of strong to severe storms (with strong to damaging winds)...with many reports of damage received by the National Weather Service.
In the picture: Thirteen tornadoes were spawned on February 24, 2001.

The National Weather Service surveyed storm damage, and found 13 tornado tracks in the Little Rock County Warning Area. It was the largest tornado outbreak in Arkansas since January 21-22, 1999 (56 tornadoes). This event occurred mostly between 330 pm and 645 pm CST.
In the picture: Transmission towers were mangled by a tornado (rated F2) about 3 miles southwest of DeValls Bluff (Prairie County) on 02/24/2001. This tornado tracked 12.7 miles through Prairie County (the third longest track of the day).

	Three of the tornadoes had long tracks (greater than ten miles). The strongest tornado of the day (rated F3) tracked 42 miles through Desha County. Another tornado (rated F2) hit the south side of Little Rock (Pulaski County)...and had a 14.3 mile track.
In the picture: A house was destroyed by a tornado (rated F2) in College Station (Pulaski County) on 02/24/2001. The house had been rebuilt after the March 1, 1997 Tornado Outbreak.

The latter tornado caused damage in areas affected by the March 1, 1997 Tornado Outbreak...such as College Station (Pulaski County).

There was only one fatality reported during the event. An eighteen month old boy was killed in a mobile home about 5 miles southwest of Salem (Fulton County).
