JOB DESCRIPTION
Clinical Psychiatrist
DEPARTMENT: Behavioral Health
SUPERVISOR: Behavioral Health Director
SUPERVISES: None
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Clinical Psychiatrist is responsible to develop and implement a program that will focus on individual psychiatric patient services. Examines, evaluates, diagnosis, and treats psychiatric disorders for American Indians and other specialized populations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide direct psychiatric services through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and
treatment of patients, including prescribing and administering medications.
2. Provides professional consultation to staff, participate in staff conferences, and serve on clinical committees.
3. Obtains and evaluates data. Complete necessary medical records and reports.
4. Provide psychiatric coverage throughout the agency as necessary during operating hours.
5. Supervise the treatment plans of assigned patients.
6. Participate in quality assurance, educational, and professional committees as assigned.
7. Serves as psychiatric consultant to behavioral health and medical providers.
8. Coordinates psychiatric services with other behavioral health activities.
9. Prescribes and evaluates effectiveness of a wide range of therapeutic measures.
10. Participate in program development as assigned.
11. Perform other program related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
1. Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy. Degree from an approved school of medicine.
2. Completion of psychiatric residency. Board eligible/board certified.
3. Demonstrated expertise in the use of psychotropic medication
4. Knowledge and competency in Mental Health treatment.
5. Strong interpersonal skills to participate in service delivery with an interdisciplinary team.
6. Must be able to relate, understand and have cultural competency in working with American Indians.
7. Current and in good standing: CDL, proof of vehicle insurance and DMV printout.
8. Indian Preference shall be given to the greatest extent possible.
