Upcoming:

bulletMMS is cosponsoring the 11th International Coral Reef Symposium (ICRS) to be held July 7-11, 2008 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  This major scientific/resource management conference is recognized as the keystone event for the International Year of the Reef.  It is convened every four years to provide the latest knowledge about coral reefs worldwide.  Over 2,000 participants are expected.  It is anticipated that MMS will participate with a display booth.  For more information visit the symposium website at http://www.nova.edu/ncri/11icrs/.

bullet MMS is a cosponsor of the 4th International Symposium on Deep-Sea Corals (ISDSC) to be held Dec. 1-5, 2008 in Wellington, New Zealand.  This symposium is designed to bring together scientists, resource managers, students, and policy-makers from around the world who are actively involved in research and management of deep-sea corals and other deep-sea habitats as well as the animals associated with them.  MMS anticipates participation with presentations on management application of scientific data to the protection of deep-sea coral communities in the northern Gulf of Mexico and on the U.S. interagency efforts regarding the protection of deep-sea corals and other vulnerable marine ecosystems.  For additional information visit the symposium webpage at http://coral2008.niwa.co.nz/index.php.
