Type of Drug: Protease Inhibitor (PI) Notes on taking this medication- Take on an empty stomach 2 hours after or 1 hour before meal
- When boosted with Norvir, Crixivan can be taken with food
- Drink 6-8 glasses of water per day to reduce risk of kidney stones
- Crixivan interacts with many other drugs; persons using Crixivan with those drugs may need an adjustment to their dose of Crixivan or the other drugs; consult your medical provider
Side effects- Kidney stones; flank or back pain
- Nausea; vomiting; diarrhea; headache
- Abnormal accumulation of body fat
- Increased blood sugar
- Elevations in cholesterol and triglycerides
- Liver inflammation and increased liver enzyme levels
- Hair loss; dry skin; ingrown nails
- Jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin)
