Expanded Access and Expedited Approval (Food and Drug Administration)
FDA has taken significant steps in response to the HIV/AIDS crisis toward making experimental drugs intended to treat life-threatening diseases more widely available to severely ill patients, as well as toward speeding the review and approval of the applications for these products. This resource provides information on these efforts.

MedWatch (Food and Drug Administration)
MedWatch is an Internet gateway for timely safety information on drugs and other medical products regulated by the FDA. The Medwatch program enhances the effectiveness of postmarketing surveillance of medical products as they are used in clinical practice, helping to rapidly identify significant health hazards associated with these products.

Adult and Adolescent Treatment Guidelines (AIDSinfo)
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1-Infected Adults and Adolescents. These guidelines outline current understanding of how clinicians should use antiretroviral drugs to treat adults and adolescents with HIV infection. The primary areas of attention within these guidelines include when to initiate therapy, which drug combinations are preferred and which drugs or combinations should be avoided, and means to continue clinical benefit in the face of antiretroviral drug resistance. New evidence is considered periodically and the adjustments are made to recommendations accordingly.

Clinical Guide on Supportive and Palliative Care for People with HIV/AIDS (HIV/AIDS Bureau, HRSA)
Palliative care is patient- and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life by active anticipation, prevention, and treatment of suffering. Palliative care is supportive of the clinical care patients with HIV/AIDS should be receiving in a health-care setting. These guidelines were created to define the goals of palliative care for the long-term treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS

Guide to the Clinical Care of Women with HIV/AIDS (HIV/AIDS Bureau, HRSA)
This guide addresses many important aspects of HIV/AIDS care and treatment and provides best practices specific to the unique treatment issues that relate to the treatment of women with HIV/AIDS. Recommended references and citations are provided for the reader to be able to access in-depth information on topics that are particularly important and/or controversial.

Managing Drug Interactions in the Treatment of HIV-Related Tuberculosis (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
The purpose of this summary is to provide the clinician with updated recommendations for managing the drug-drug interactions that occur when using antiretroviral therapy during tuberculosis treatment.

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines 2006 (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention)
These guidelines for the treatment of STDs are intended to assist physicians and other health-care providers with the effort to prevent and treat sexually transmitted diseases. Although these guidelines emphasize treatment, prevention strategies and diagnostic recommendations also are discussed. Several sections of this document focus on HIV transmission prevention, prevention in specific populations, and testing, referral, and counseling information.

Treatment of Opportunistic Infections Guidelines (AIDSinfo)
These guidelines provide evidence-based information for the treatments of 28 opportunistic infections in HIV-infected adults and adolescents. The guidelines are written by the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health and the HIV Medicine Association/Infectious Diseases Society of America.
