Wonderful Outdoor World (WOW) Campout is a program for the new camper. We supply all the equipment, a city park, food, and sleeping bags that the youth can take home. The new camper will set up camp, cook their meals, enjoy a "camp fire", learn environmental skills (Leave No Trace), clean up and the fun of sleeping under the stars. Campers check in at 1:30 pm the first day and stay through 2:00 pm the following day.

Costs: $10.00 per camper, due with your registration packet.  The cost includes all equipment, food, and supervision—you will take home your new sleeping bag, t-shirt, and camp journal.

Who:Any child between the ages of 9 and 12 who have never been camping before and would like to learn how. Repeat campers welcome (bring your own sleeping bag). We must have at least 12 participants to camp, but no more than 36.

Prerequisite: You must be between 9 and 12 years of age and be able to attend the entire program--it is a full 24-hour event that requires the child to spend the night.  We need at least 12 participants to run the camp, but no more than 36.

Registration: Pre-registration is required, no less than one week before the campout. Call the Community Center where the WOW Campout is being held. Registration forms are available by emailing Outdoor Recreation at outdoorrecreation@cabq.gov. You may also request a registration packet by calling (505) 857-8100, please leave a brief message with your name, phone number and address. Space is filled on a first come/ first serve basis, so call quickly. Please mail your completed registration packet and payment to the Outdoor Recreation main office.

The DEADLINE to sign up for the camp is one week before the campout, so call before the campout is full.
