Tower Skate Park

Mayor Chavez was joined by nearly 100 kids and their parents Wednesday, August 8th as he officially opened the Tower Pond Park Modular Skate Park.  This is the first skateboard park in the southwest quadrant of the City of Albuquerque.  Professional skateboarder Charlie Thomas, who has traveled the world as an ambassador for skateboarding, was on hand for the grand opening, giving kids tips as well as giving a demonstration. The skate park took about four months to build at a cost of $650,000 dollars. The funds were provided by GO Bonds and State Grants. Mayor Chavez says he is committed to building at least one modular skate park to each quadrant of the City of Albuquerque.
