NIMH Annual International Research Conference on the Role of Families in Preventing and Adapting to HIV/AIDS

In July 2007, NIMH and the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies at UC San Francisco co-sponsored a conference aimed at “Responding to the Social Context of HIV Risk: The Role of Families and Support Networks.” The first day, called Community Day, focused on issues developing collaborative research projects involving both researchers and community members. The second and third days focused on recent findings from family and HIV/AIDS research. Over 200 people attended the conference, including participants from Africa, Eastern Europe, India, Jordan, and South America.
