THE FORMAT OF THE MESSAGE WILL BE MODIFIED TO BE IDENTICAL TO THAT USED IN THE SHORT-RANGE GLOBAL FORECAST SYSTEM /GFS/-BASED MOS GUIDANCE… THOUGH GUIDANCE FOR WEATHER ELEMENTS BEYOND 60-HRS IN ADVANCE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL LATER IN THE SPRING OF 2004. ALSO ON FEBRUARY 24TH: - CEILING HEIGHT AND SNOWFALL GUIDANCE WILL BECOME AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME - THE DEFINITION OF CATEGORIES OF TOTAL SKY COVER AND CEILING HEIGHT WILL BE MODIFIED TO DISTINGUISH BETWEEN FEW AND SCATTERED CLOUDS AND BETWEEN CEILINGS OF 1000- 1900 FT AND 2000-3000 FT. CHANGES WILL ALSO BE MADE TO THE STATIONS FOR WHICH GUIDANCE IS AVAILABLE. ETA MOS WILL NOW BE PRODUCED FOR STATIONS IN ALASKA...HAWAII...AND PUERTO RICO...AS WELL AS 142 NEW STATIONS IN THE CONTIGUOUS US. LISTS OF ALL STATIONS IN THIS CHANGE ARE PROVIDED BELOW.
